Online Buys: Picky Mom Approved! | East Texas Moms

Does anyone else return a lot?

When I say “a lot”; I’m talking about returning/ exchanging one or more items from a shopping trip or online purchase … and that’s a very roundabout estimate. I place unrealistic faith in a product’s claim. “Looks beautiful on any skin type“; “Instantly smooths to reduce the look of 10 lbs”; “One size fits all“. Whatever! If I am not happy with what I have purchased, you can guarantee it is going back to the retailer.

My favorite way to shop is online. If you’re a picky shopper like me, I’ve gathered a few of my favorite online purchases that I’m definitely keeping and highly recommending!

With swimsuit season in full force, I will begin with my absolute favorite online retailer for swimwear: Venus.com

The ruched side halter tankini not only comes in lovely prints; it holds in my tummy and the high neck protects my chest area from too much fun in the sun. I love the fit of this particular swimsuit so much, I bought one 3 years ago and then another print this year. Word of advice: I always order one size up in the top and two sizes up in the bottoms. Despise shipping fees? Sign up to receive promotions via email and catch the swimsuits during a free shipping event! They also have great sales and I haven’t ever paid full price for a swimsuit.

Ever find the perfect dress or top but want to wear a cami underneath because of unwanted cleavage showing? Ladies, after years of exasperation, I have found the solution!

Sukat’s Seamless Lace Bralette on Amazon.com has met and exceeded all my expectations. I followed the size chart and this bralette fits like a dream. I could wear it all day! Not only is it super comfortable, this baby has a nice lace inset that keeps cleavage perfectly subdued. I’m more comfortable in my low cut blouses and dresses. And an added bonus … with this Texas heat … it’s cooler without having to wear a full tank! The bralette comes in 6 colors and there is no doubt I will be ordering another shade soon.

Amazon.com

As I near 40 (gasp) my skin has decided to do a 180. Foundation that used to be my “go-to” for years now turns my skin into two things: arid and cakey or a greasy oil slick. I suppose my skin can now be described as combo with a wild streak of turning dry or oily at any given moment in time.

Needless to say, I have tried every foundation to meet my skin’s fickle behavior … but to no avail. You know how Facebook watches our every move? Well,  MarcJacobsBeauty.com popped up in my newsfeed one day and I took a chance on Re(Marc)able Full Cover Foundation since it was on sale. Guilty admission: I returned two shades until I found the right one. With free shipping, I’m glad I kept trying because I absolutely love this foundation! It stays on all day without getting cakey and only 6 dots cover my acne and sun spots scars. Re(Marc)able has been on sale for half price the last couple of months so make sure you use their shade finder and grab your selection today!

“0 calories. 0 sugar. 0 carbs.” Sounds too good to be true, right? Not the case!

Looking to add more flavor to my recipes, I recently purchased Keto Mocha Syrup, Sugar Free Mojito Mix, and Cosmopolitan Sugar Free Mix from Skinnymixes.com. The mocha syrup (although not completely carb free) adds something extra special to my morning coffee. And a shot of vodka mixed with the mojito mix or cosmopolitan mix makes a refreshing “mommy beverage”. I will wait until the site offers free shipping before I order again but the three items I purchased (*may*) will hold me over until then!

Amanda and her husband live in Lindale where they are raising their two full-speed-ahead boys. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Stephen F. Austin and is a former 5th grade Reading teacher. A lifelong learner, Amanda has returned to her roots. Writing is her passion and therapy. It is in her bones and she loves every moment of it! Amanda is a southern gal who loves all things girly: the sparkle of new earrings, the glamour of a perfectly red lipstick, and the pain in your foot after wearing new heels to a smoldering outdoor BBQ (true story). She has proclaimed to be many things: an old soul born in the wrong era, a land-locked mermaid, and bull in a china shop. A book lover since she can remember, Amanda indulges herself in the smell of freshly printed pages and can’t stand the stench of an old book… she wonders “who else has touched that book and what images did they conjure up as they read the very same tale?” This thing is for certain however, Amanda is a mother who believes in the power of Faith, dreams, and imagination. One of Amanda’s most favorite quotes by Erin Hanson gives wings to her dreams: “What if I fall? Oh, but darling, what if you fly?”
